Team Michigan consists of individuals from across the state who have received life-saving transplants, are living donors, or may be families of a donor, as well as transplant professionals and advocates.
The mission of Team Michigan is to educate the public to the benefits of transplantation and the need for organ donor registrations. Team Michigan also provides team building events, mutual support, friendly competition, experience, and camaraderie for all our athletes, as well as having a social side for the team members. We are a not-for-profit organization run solely by volunteers. The Team is committed to the goals of all our members, be it just participating in one or two events at the games, or working towards competing at the World Transplant Games.
Team members live throughout the state and are active members in their respective communities, promoting organ and tissue donation, as well as providing educational events dispelling some of the myths associated with donation.
The medal counts are in and Team Michigan took home 32 gold, 28 silver and 32 bronze medals at the Transplant Games in Birmingham Alabama. And then to top it off at the closing ceremonies, Team Michigan was awarded the Team Spirit Award.
